No. Searching, browsing categories, the map and saved places all work without Instagram. Instagram only loads when you open a place's location page, in Spot's in-app browser. If you sign in there, that login is with Instagram, not with Spot.

Apple rate limits sustained Apple Maps searches. When that happens Spot tells you, rather than claiming no places exist. Wait a moment and try again — it isn't about the place you searched for.

Not every place has one. When Spot can't open a location page, use Copy name on the place screen — it copies the name ready to paste into Instagram's own search.

Yes. Tap the location chip at the start of the category row and pin any city. Every search and distance re-centres on the pin until you switch back to your location.

Yes. Pin a city instead, or turn location on for Spot in iOS Settings. Spot only asks for When In Use location.

They're different questions. “cafe” means show me cafés, so Spot sweeps the area and ranks by distance. “Cafe Lamas” means find this one, so the words must actually match, and a real match further away outranks a non-match next door.

Settings → Export saved places saves them as a JSON file you can share or keep. Your list is only stored on your iPhone, so deleting the app deletes it.

Yes. Settings lets you choose distance units, the search radius, and a light, dark or system theme.
